December Challenge: What is your culture and heritage?

This month I want you to explore your culture and heritage through interviewing your relatives and reading books from your ancestors regions or countries.  This month lends itself to family’s being together and you have time to ask questions like:       1.  Where were your parents and grandparents born/raised? 2.  Tell me some family traditions and customs during the holidays when you grew up. 3.  Tell me some of the family stories that get repeated every year that make you laugh, cry, or smile.  4.  What are some favorite stories, books, and/or movies that you enjoy every year at this time?

November Challenge: Animal Tales…grab a book by the collar.

This month we are exploring animal stories that inspire or touch our hearts.  One of my favorite new books is “Marley and Me” by John Grogan.  This is also a great month to write your own animal story about a pet or animal you have known in a fun way.  If you write a story, stop by the library and share with me your writing or leave a comment of 3-4 sentences that summarize your story.

October Challenge: If you’re not afraid of the Dark!

Are you afraid of our dark?

Wanna read by our night light? ooohhhweeeoooo!

Are you scared of the dark or cringe at the sight of dripping water. ( I thought about blood here, but it scares me too much.)  Then you are ready for the October Challenge.  Go to the page titled Booklist-Horror and choose a spooky author.  Try one or more of their books and let’s vote on which one is the scariest book to read.  Don’t forget to keep your eye open for the “Golden Ticket!”
